Recent Accomplishments
Congratulations to Cynthia Huerta from class of 2019 for placing first in this year's Bushwick Film Festival for her short documentary, "America First." The documentary serves, in part, as a call to action for the voting age to be lowered from 18 to 16. During the Q and A session after the initial screening, she credited TYWLS as being a source of her inspiration saying, "I go to an all girls school, so I'm surrounded by activism all the time."

Congratulations to TYWLS of Brooklyn's high school rock band who took 1st place at this year's Battle of the Bands competition, winning our music department a beautiful Fender Telecaster electric guitar! Congratulations to our second band for winning the “most flawless performance” category! The prize, an electric drum set for our music department! Thank you to TYWLS of Queens for hosting this talent-packed event! Special shout out to our teacher rock band, Common Core, who made a cameo appearance!
